Here is a random combination of my favorite things from this week. I actually couldn’t narrow it down to three things, so here are my top five favorites:
1. Forehead Tape
Some of you may have seen my post on Instagram Stories. I got the idea from one of my favorite bloggers, Predominantly Paleo. She shared this a month or so ago and ever since then I’ve tried it and been hooked. Apparently, there’s been this product called Frownies that has been around since 1889! But I use regular medical tape. I just put one smaller strip starting in between my eyebrows and then two strips across my forehead. We naturally frown and scrunch our faces in our sleep, and a lot of times these contribute to the fine lines we start to get as we age. The tape help keeps your skin in place while you’re scrunching your face in your sleep. I’ve been using it for a little over a month now and I do think I notice a difference.
2. Gluten-Free Toasts
I love Trader Joe’s with all my heart and when they come out with new gluten free products, my heart grows even fonder for them.
These babies are pretty dry, but go perfectly with some goat cheese, avocado, and smoked salmon.
3. Nike Gear
Nike is often hit or miss for me, but this season it is really a hit! This hoodie/cape is amazing. I’ve never thought I’d like something called a cape, but this really is a cape. And I love it! Lots of workout cover-ups seem to be unflattering and not fashionable, but not this one. I find myself reaching for it time and time again. The leggings are squat proof and have worked for me for high intensity workouts. The leggings are also on sale at Macy’s! The shoes are the Nike Free RN Flyknit, although my exact color is sold out, these ones are the new 2018 version. I love LOVE the pink color they come in!
4. My Toddy Cold Brew Maker
I’ve always preferred iced coffee to hot coffee, and when cold brew came in style I was ecstatic! Cold brew is coffee that has been brewed for 6-24 hours and it is actually less acidic than regular hot coffee. It’s pricey to buy in stores and it’s really not that hard to make at home. I was using this coffee sock thing, but it did not yield enough cold brew to meet my coffee-drinking needs. The Toddy Cold brew maker is much better. It yields a lot more cold brew, cleans easily, and looks sleek. It is also currently 12% off! You can buy it here.
5. The Loyola Ramblers
I went to undergraduate at Loyola University Chicago and never thought that we’d be in the NCAA basketball tournament in my lifetime. But here we are! Loyola is a Division I school, but we are not generally known for our sports. I was actually a campus tour guide and my fun piece of trivia for all the people touring that Loyola was (and still is) the only school in Illinois to win the NCAA in basketball 1963. I keep thinking how cool it would be if we got another title. Regardless if we win or not, I’m loving seeing my Alma Mater all over the news with our sweet Sister Jean and our Cinderella story. Here’s a little comparison, me and my closest girlfriends our senior year of college, and now, 10 years later!
