Instagram Husband In-Training
When I first told my husband that we were going to take pictures inside a box, he was very skeptical, but he went along with it because he’s in training to be an Instagram Hubby. ; ) It wasn’t until we were on our way to the shoot that I mentioned the box is 4 feet by 4 feet. My husband said, well I won’t fit (he’s 6’4″) and figured it would just be Ollie, Lucy, and I. “I’ll never fit”, he kept repeating, but in the back of my mind, I knew he would fit. Once we arrived at the studio, it was clear that we’d all be participating, and Michelle, one of the photographers mentioned, “we just had a guy in here who was 6’5” and that Mike would fit “no problem”. And being the nice, cooperative husband that he is, my tall hubby agreed to get “boxed in” with us. And we had so much fun, take a look!
Oliver truly had the most fun! He tends to be shy at photoshoots because he’s at the age where is starting to experience stranger danger, plus we’re asking him to do some unnatural things, like play in a box. But for this shoot, he actually had a blast! I mean look at his face…it melts my heart! Oliver really enjoyed playing with all the Christmas props and clapping his hands. Lucy (our pup) on the other hand, was a bit freaked out about the whole process. Luckily, we were able to get her to go along with everything for a few shots.
Taking pictures inside a box, got our creative juices flowing and we tried different poses to get some unique shots. The one below was my idea going into the event, and it was harder than I thought to capture, but we made it work! Michelle and Andy were so helpful in getting us to pose properly and still look good in the final product.
Misha Media
I was drawn to this creative idea for a “Boxed In” session when I found Misha Media in a local Chicago group and I fell in love with their work. Michelle and Andy are a husband and wife team that make up Misha Media. They are most well-known for their stunning wedding photography, but they also shoot portraits and family pictures. And they’ve shot over 1000 weddings, so they know what they are doing! I mean look at this stunning wedding photo…

The story of how they came to be photographers is truly moving and I was drawn to how dedicated they both are to their daughter, Misha. You can read about it on their site and trust me, it will show you just how family-oriented and passionate they both are.

If you’re looking for creative family photos, or just an opportunity to capture memories in a unique way, I highly recommend working with Michelle and Andy for a Boxed-In session. You can learn more about the Boxed-In session on their site and contact them for more information. Their studio is conveniently located in the western Chicago suburbs right off highway 90.
