Being pregnant this fall and winter, I am all for comfort, but I also love to be a little bit stylish. When I can find clothes that are comfortable, stylish AND also not maternity so I can wear them after I have the baby, I am a happy woman. Sweater dresses are the perfect closet staple item that meet all three requirements; somehow this is my first year discovering just how versatile they can be. You can pair them with leggings, cute boots/booties, and a few accessories for a polished look. I’m sharing three sweater dresses that I’ve been loving this season that don’t break the bank. Plus, a few over-sized sweaters that also pair well with leggings during this season.
Dress #1
This seemingly simple ribbed sweater dress surprised me with the flattering fit for only $28. Amazon can be a gamble sometimes with the fit and quality of the clothing items, but this one is definitely a winner. I like that it has slightly puffed sleeves and can be worn both on and off the shoulder. I paired it with this pair of waterproof wedge booties (this leopard pair is a favorite of mine this fall) and it could easily be worn with leggings too. I’m wearing a large and it accommodates my growing bump well. It is hard to tell from this picture, but it does have a little slit on one side, but it is not too high where you have to worry about flashing anyway. This dress comes in 5 colors and would also look super cute styled with a belt, as Amazon has it on their model.

Dress #2
I was immediately drawn to the fun puff sleeves on this dress, but worried that it might fit more like a body-con type of dress. To my surprise, this dress is very stretchy and even though I went with a L right now, I could have easily sized down to M for a more fitted look. The fabric is forgiving and has a good amount of stretch to it. The sleeves give it a little dressy factor that spices up this simple grey dress. I also love the slightly longer length, just keep in mind it might hit lower on you (I’m 5’9). This dress could go with a number of different pairs of booties, but I decided to see how it would look with my favorite neutral pair and loved how it turned out.
Dress #3

If you follow me on Instagram, you have probably already seen this look from Express. As an Express Partner, I get to choose several items from a lookbook they provide me with and as soon as I saw the one for October, I was immediately drawn to this sweater dress. Another dress I feared would be in the body-con category, but it seems all the sweater dresses I tried are much less fitted and much more forgiving. Since this dress is classically simple, I decided a belt would be the perfect accessory to spice up my outfit. Add a pair of statement earrings and fun booties and you will feel like a regular fashionista! The dress is under $60, but Express is always having 40-50% off sales, so there’s a good chance you can get it on sale.
Over-sized Sweaters
A distant cousin to the sweater dress, over-sized sweaters are so cozy and easy to wear with leggings for a polished look that is secretly outrageously comfortable.
I’ve been eyeing this Free People sweater for a while now and snatched this pretty plum color up as soon as it went on sale this year and it does not disappoint. With the perfect amount of slouchiness and an elegant neckline, this sweater is easy to love. Regular priced, it is definitely a splurge, but if you are lucky enough to snag it on sale, it’s even better. I try to post any sale items on my stories on Instagram Follow me on Instagram @theblissfulmomma to be notified when it goes on sale. Note: Size down on this one unless you want a super-oversized fit. I’m wearing a M 6 months pregnant and still have plenty of room. I paired it with my Spanx maternity leggings (which are life-changing btw) that come in regular sizes here and my knee-high boots. Now I want this sweater in other colors and the hot pink is calling my name, look how gorgeous it is!

This sweater is a combination of a tunic and a poncho and at $23 it is a super great deal! It comes in two sizing options, S/M and M/L and I went with the smaller option and it fit perfectly. Another fun look to pair with leggings and boots!
P.S. Have you seen this jacket?!
I have been loving the Teddy coat trend, but have not been loving the price on some of the teddy coats. This one is a steal at only $39 and fits just as well as it’s more expensive counterparts. I actually purchased both to compare and preferred this cheaper version. It is super cozy and will keep me warm during the freezing cold winters we have in the Midwest.
I’ve got try-ons saved on Instagram stories of all of these looks, saved under the “try-on” high light bubble on my stories. Now tell me, which look is your favorite?
I need that pink one in my life!

I really like dress 2. I can see myself wearing it out or hanging out at the house 🏠
