January is almost over…already?! What in the world? At the beginning of the month, I thought this would be a long, peaceful month and now, somehow it is over even though I swear it is only January 15thish. Starting a fun new series on the blog today…
I’ve been a reader of Sheaffer Told Me To and Mix & Match Mama since 2012 and never thought I would be blogging alongside with them. They host a fun series the last Monday of the month, called “What’s Up Wednesday”. I decided to join in on the fun and let you know once a month what is going on in my life.
WHAT WE’RE EATING
I have been making an effort to cook more at home this month and am happy to report that I am doing well with it. Even thought I am cooking more, quick and easy meals are a must because I get home relatively late plus a needy toddler make for little time in the kitchen.
Two of my Go-To Recipes Lately
Trader Joe’s Gyros Basically all ready made stuff at Trader Joe’s that you can throw together with some fresh veggies for a quick dinner
Instant Pot Kalua Pork – A little more time-consuming, but once you make it, you will have delicious leftovers to eat all week!
My favorite recipe this month one that is oh so easy from my friend Alissa at Twee Blog :
For the month of February, my family is going to be SUPER busy, so I am going to meal plan and cook when I can, but realistically, I am going to need help. I have already ordered Green Chef meals (my favorite meal delivery service) for one of my super busy weeks. To try Green Chef for yourself and save $55, click here.
WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT
Our first vacation as a family, our trip to Hawaii in 2018 when Oliver was one. This was our first trip to Maui, our first vacation as a family, and Oliver’s first birthday celebration. Also the first time I broke my nose (thanks to Ollie for that one too!) haha, but I’d do it all over again for the great memories we made. Right now, we are taking one vacation a year and we’d love to go somewhere early fall. Any ideas of where we should go?
WHAT I’M LOVING
My current beauty routine! Did you see my most recent post about my top beauty products of 2020? It took me a while to get in a routine that actually works for my skin type, but I think I finally have it down. Check out my full post here or shop my picks below.
WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO
Laying low and spending a lot of time at home mostly. We got back from visiting my parents in California on January 4 and since then it feels like we have been playing catch up with everything! Oliver started a new daycare, which he is loving and Mike and I have both been very busy at work.
Now we’re all fighting off a sickness that really knocked my off my feet and now Oliver. I’m really hoping that once we kick this, we can stay healthy until Spring!
WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT
I am THRILLED to be attending Alt Summit in Palm Spring this year!
Altitude “Alt” Summit is a conference for creatives and influencers that is held yearly in sunny Palm Springs, CA. This will be my first blogger conference and I am so excited to attend and soak in as much information as I can. Last year, I traveled to a Create & Cultivate Retreat with Aerie and got meet some women I really admire and it had me craving more blogger events! I will actually be traveling solo with Oliver and then spending the week with my parents (they live in California). I’m going to try to combine conference time along with some quality family time.
I will definitely be hanging out by the pool (or two!) during my trip and rounded up my favorite bathing suits under $40 below:
WHAT I’M WORKING ON
Consistently sharing my outfits and more fashion posts. I asked you guys what you want to see more of, and fashion was by far the thing you want to see more of. This always surprises me, but I am happy to oblige!
WHAT I NEED TO BE WORKING ON…
Some of you may know, my day job is working as a therapist and I am a Licensed Social Worker. I actually have all the qualifications to move up to the next level in my field (called a Licensed Clinical Social Worker), but I have to take a test in order to do that. And study of course. This is one of my career goals for 2020. I’m hoping that by writing it down here, it helps me bring it to fruition.
WHAT I’M WEARING
The cutest necklace with Oliver’s initial! I have wanted a delicate initial necklace ever since they got popular in the past few years. When the Etsy shop Silveristic Jewelry in Austin, Texas reached out to me, I jumped at the chance to order a custom piece. I went with this dainty, side initial necklace and added a heart. I figured this way if I am able to have more children, I can layer another necklace with the other initials. You can find my exact 14k rose gold necklace here and the more budget-friendly version here.
My top three purchases of the last month:
- This Free People tunic sweater. The softest and most flattering over-sized sweater I’ve found in a long time! Every time I put it on, I never want to take it off! It’s been 40% off for a few weeks now, now sure how much longer this will last. Sweater 40% off here, Spanx on sale linked here, purse here.
2. This zebra mock neck shirt. I absolutely love this print and the burnt orange color. Perfect for work or dress it up for a date night. Find my top here, headband here, and the softest motto jacket for $38 here.
3. My Golden Goose dupes. I finally pulled the trigger on these! I was on the fence on whether I should wait and get real Golden Goose sneaks, but I had a return to a store that carries one of the highly-rated dupes, so I used my return to try this pair out. And I’m so glad I did! They are quite comfortable and look pretty similar to the originals I think.
I am also wearing all the Valentine’s Day things; I rounded up my favorites below, goo for beyond Valentine’s Day too because who doesn’t love all the heart things?!
That’s it for today, what do you think of my first What’s Up Wednesday post?! I’d love to hear feedback/comments about any of the above.
